Green Guru @ Bioneers!!!

Out and about again, the team here at Green Guru packed up the veggie powered ambulance and headed to off to participate in Bioneers!

Bioneers is a gathering of leading scientific innovators & environmental visionaries who offer practical solutions to the most pressing environmental and social issues of our time.

We wanted to show our support for one of our great e-tailors. Econsciousmarket.com. We are featured on their amazing site as a vendor of responsible, quality goods so they asked us come along and join them in spreading a little E-consciousness. So we brought out some merchandise and a few good people to lend a hand where we could.

At Econsciousmarket.com every purchase puts the economic power back into the hands of the consumer by donating 50% of the profits from each product sold to the non-profit of their choice. All of us at Green Guru are really excited to be on board with the guys over at Econsciousmarket.com.

Other great organizations that were represented at Bioneers included Elephant Magazine, Gengreen.com, Redirect Guide, Community cycles, and Conscious Alliance all of which were great to see there and hear about what their all up to.

Green Guru at Colorado University Recycled Products Extravaganza

This was the second year that Green Guru participated in the Recycled Materials Fair and the amount of response that was generated by the student body was really extraordinary. Green Guru was glad to donate a stylish billboard series tote that was given out as a door prize to one lucky student. The fair was a huge success with artists, vendors, and volunteers all coming together to spread good vibes and share dialog and products geared towards sustainability.

The campus community was really eager to talk about recycling and sustainability. We had the opportunity to talk to and make friends with a lot of really conscious people striving to make a difference in their own communities in their own individual ways.

In other good news we also made an on campus contact with CU’s bike station. All of us at Green Guru were glad to hear that the bike station already had a recycling program for their blown-out bike inner tubes. However, the bike station was really excited when they found out that we were starting a national inner-tube recycling program, the first one of its kind in the country, and they wanted to participate. That means a large portion of our blowout series is now made with inner tubes straight from the CU campus population. This also means that the bike station is reducing its carbon output by recycling locally and conserving the fuel and shipping costs incurred by sending their inner tubes out of state. A definite win-win situation for the community and everyone involved. We are all looking forward to participating in the fair next year.

DC Green Festival Turnout

Another great green event in Washington DC turned out 40,000 or so visitors for a weekend of green lectures and exhibitors. Green Guru and Green Goddess Gear was there with a great line of products exciting the public with the creative use of reclaimed/recycled materials including billboards, inner tubes, and climbing ropes along with natural fibers like hemp, bamboo and organic cotton.
From coast to coast the green consciousness is certainly growing. The DC visitors were eager to learn about sustainable products and lifestyles. As usual people couldn’t believe that billboards were now vinyl and immediately thanked us for salvaging and turning them into usable products. In conversation we also had a chance to hear about other great materials that could find their way to a creative reuse.

Other exhibitors we had a great time meeting with include Reware and Juice Bags that we will be working on cobranded Solar panel bags http://www.rewarestore.com/ , Golden Fuel Systems http://www.goldenfuelsystems.com/ , Jungmaven Hemp Lifestyle, Sweet Riot Chocolates, Green Heart Store, Enlightenment Magazine, PLENT Magazine and more.

On other green adventure notes we travelled to the event in the Eco Ambulance travelling a good percentage of the way on vegetable oil and biodiesel. Along the way meeting with bike shops and outfitters interested in starting recycling programs and carrying Green Guru and Goddess Gear.
